NOT QUITE 100%

It has been a week since I graduated from physical therapy for my foot. My foot is better but not 100%. It is more like 85%-90% fixed. Our healthcare system seems fine that a person is 85-90% well. I feel like there is something wrong with that.

If I were an athlete no one would put up with me being 85% well. I would have to be 100% well. I would stay in PT until I was 100%.  I think all patients should be 100% well. Not 85 or 90% well.

I rode my stationary bike for 30 minutes on a program with hills and valleys. Then I rode another 30 minutes on level 3 for a total of 10.5 miles.

Until tomorrow...

  1. Glad to hear that your foot is so much better. But I agree with you about PT, Adrienne. It's disappointing that insurance won't cover the final 3-6 weeks that can heal the injury completely. It would be good to have a reasonable explanation for it, since leaving an injury 85 percent healed increases the possibility that it will be re-injured more easily--and that will only cost the insurance company more, in the long run. How stupid!

You're doing great on the bike! I wondered: How do you keep yourself from getting really bored? That's the main problem I've had with most types of exercise (except walking): boredom. Maybe I need to learn to live with it? ;o)

    1. I either tape or watch on my iPad an exciting program. I make sure I have something interesting to keep my mind off the tedious task. My only problem is that I get so into the show that my speed slows down. I have also read a magazine. I find it hard to read because of the movement. I also am not keen on music but some like it. You could also listen to NPR or TED talks if that is what you are into. Just find something you like. I will sit and watch The Last Ship and be totally immersed. Hope that helps.
