Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Wikipedia
Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  Lots of activities and events are going on around the country. Parades, trains to freedom, and community clean ups.

I found a quote to write about that brings together MLK and RA.

"A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death."
Martin Luther King, Jr., Where Do We Go from Here: Chaos or Community?, 1967.

I understand this quote to mean that when this country spends more money on defense and less money on things like education and health it is a spiritual desert.  I so agree.  There are so many "programs of social uplift" that would make this country and it's people so much stronger and exceptional.

Do you have a favorite MLK quote you would like to share?
