ANOTHER PAIR OF FREE GLASSSES

I finally went to get my glasses checked. Even though they got me new glasses when I noticed the prescription was wonky, I still feel like the prescription is weird. I feel like I have to look through the top of the lenses and in one eye I feel like I have to look to the side. It may be me but I wanted to get it checked.

Sure enough, it wasn't me. The guy who did the positioning of where my eye looks through the glasses made a mistake and the person who data entered the info made a typo. The glasses were all wrong again! They are making me a whole new pair of glasses and sunglasses. The company is making no money off me with this purchase of two pair of glasses since this is the second pair of glasses they made me for free. At least it isn't me. I was starting to think I was crazy.

The electrician came to fix the electricity in the kitchen. He got most of the kitchen working again but it became clear that the backyard and kitchen issue is connected. He has to fix it all together. It will be a big project.

I timed my trip to the eye glass place to be when I was feeling sort of okay.

It hailed last night. It was 39 degrees this morning. Ugh.

Until tomorrow...

RA DR VISIT

I trekked over to my doctor's office today. She is really a bit hot and cold. I'm guessing she is not going to be the warm person she was in our first meeting.

I found out that my X-rays show I do not have any degeneration of my joints in my hands. That is good news. Getting on the biologics early was a good thing.

Then she informed me I was not taking enough of my new medicine. It was a communication issue. Fixed now.

Then I got home and my new glasses showed up. I can see much better now. It is taking me a while to get used to them.

I took Lucky for a walk and now she is limping on both legs. I called and I am taking her in tomorrow morning.

Until tomorrow...

THE SUN IS SHINING...FOR ONE DAY

I woke up and the sun was shining today. No rain, no hail, no thunderstorms. It was wonderful! Lucky was so happy to go for a walk with no rain coming down on her head. I was happy because I had to drive to a doctor's appointment and I didn't want to drive with all the crazies who don't know how to drive in the rain.

I went to the eye doctor's office again to get my eyes checked because the prescription in my new glasses are wrong. I get to the office and the doctor is super nice. It is a different doctor. She puts me in the machine and then she has me do the whole "is this better or this better" routine. Then she shows me through the machine what I could see with my current glasses, the prescription that I used to get my new glasses, and the prescription she was going to give me today. Now I see the huge mistake the other doctor made! The prescription was way off! No wonder I had a headache. And I drove with those glasses!

She told me the appointment was free and that if she wrote redo on the prescription, the eye glass place should redo them for free. I was skeptical.

I got home and called them and sure enough, they will make me a new pair. I have to send the current pair back. They were so nice to me. Give a shout out to Warby Parker!

Had the RA group meeting tonight. We did chair yoga. I did most of it. I skipped the standing part. It was relaxing. I liked the instructor.

WHY CAN'T I SEE?

Today was a busy day. I had the handyman here to fix a few things. Then out of the blue the landscaper showed up to do some work. I wasn't going to turn him down.

The handyman fixed the leaky spot (where the roofer fixed the roof leak) and painted it. Then he painted a spot that he fixed a few weeks ago. He installed my new lock on my door. Then the landscaper pointed out maybe he could move an outdoor plug lower. He did that! Then I asked him if the plug worked and it didn't and he fixed that. He had some time so I asked him to fix two door nobs that have annoyed me for ever. The doors don't close unless I slammed them. He worked his magic and now they close. Then as he was leaving the outside door wouldn't close properly. He fixed that! We also discussed a leak that will have to wait until the rain stops. It is a bigger project.

The landscaper installed the water feature. It looks nice. I worry a little bit that it is too close to the trees.

I think it will be so great to hear the water sound.

Meanwhile I was inside trying to work.  I also had to call the eye doctor because I got my new glasses on Friday afternoon and wore them all weekend. I realized that I was getting a headache every day. I could not see far away. I could not read any words on the TV. I put on my old glasses and I could see the words. Something was wrong. Either the eye exam was wrong or the eye glass place made a mistake but someone needs to figure this out because I spent hundreds of dollars on glasses I can't wear. The eye doctor was very nice and made an appointment this week to see what was going on.

NEW GLASSES

I went to pick up my new glasses.  Okay as we discussed before, they are the same frames but new lenses.  I can see the smaller print now and will probably pass my vision test when I go for my Real ID this week.  If I wasn't in such a hurry I may have gotten other frames but I was in a super hurry to get these glasses in time for my vision test.

Until tomorrow...

NEW GLASSES, OH, REALLY NEW LENS

I went down to the eye wear place and ordered my new glasses.  Well, they are my same frames but with new lenses.  I will be able to see the far away small print again.  Even better I will be able to read instructions without taking off my glasses again.  I am not sure why my eyes got so bad this time around but I guess it is age.  I thought your eyes were supposed to slow down on how fast they got worse when you got older buy mine are not.  My feet are getting smaller and my eyes are getting worse.  What is next?

My errands took up most of the day.

Oh, I saw an Uber driver make a left turn from the middle lane, cut off the car in the left lane, almost run over a person in the YELLOW cross walk while turning into oncoming traffic on a one-way street going the wrong way.  It is amazing how you just stand there in shock watching this almost tragedy happen because you can't believe the stupidity of some people.  The car in the left lane who was cut off just leaned on his horn but it didn't stop the Uber from turning into oncoming traffic.  Luckily there was no car in that lane and no one got hurt but the Uber (and anyone coming the other way) was very lucky.

NEW GLASSES

I picked up my glasses today.  My glasses are progressives and this is the first time I am wearing progressives.  People have been warning me for years that they are horrible and that I am going to hate them.

I got my new glasses and went to a coffee shop and put them on and began to read.  I have no idea what people are talking about.  I walked up three flight of stairs with no problem.  I thought they were great.  I did not wear them home on public transportation.  I thought I should get used to them first before I went on the subway.

I am going to spend the weekend wearing them before I have to drive and get around.

Until tomorrow...

UPDATE #2 ON GLASSES

I just got an email giving me an update on my regular pair of glasses (as opposed to my sunglasses).  Warby Parker emailed me to say they received the frames but there was an inconsistency with the frame.  They have to order a new pair of frames.  They said they will be expediting the order and will let me know when they arrive.  Both pairs of glasses will probably arrive at the same time!

Oh, it is raining again.  Ugh.  Over 200% of the amount of rain we normally get in one year and it is only April 11th.

Until tomorrow...

UPDATE ON GLASSES

I took my frames to Lenscrafters today to get sunglasses put in them.  I want my progressives in my sunglasses so I have to get the thin lenses, the progressives, the brown tint, the UV, blah, blah.  I should have them in a week.

I was really surprised that Lenscrafters has such a wide selection of frames.  Next time I will go there when I am looking for frames.  They had a bunch of designer styles.

In a week I will have both my regular glasses and my sunglasses and I will have a new look.

Until tomorrow...

FRAMES AND PAELLA

I finally bought a pair for frames.  I went to a Warby Parker and found a pair of frames, well, two pairs of frames.  I took M with me and I chose a pair of frames that are really not like me at all.  It will be interesting to see people's reactions.  Then I chose a pair of tortoise frames for sunglasses. I have to go get them made because Warby Parker will only make them a certain way and I didn't like it that way.  I will go to another place to get it done this week.

Then I came home and made vegan paella.

It turned out really good.  Super tasty.

Until tomorrow...

DOG WALKER AND FRAMES

Me and the pups met with a dog walker/sitter. She is very nice.  She was worried about my dogs and her dog.  I already know that they will be fine since Happi and Lucky have been fine with other dogs.

Well they loved her.  This is all good news.

I spent the afternoon shopping for eye glass frames.  My friend M went with me from store to store trying on frames.  I must have tried on 50 frames.  I found a few that I liked but none that I love.  I feel that I need to love a pair of eye glass frames that I am going to wear every day for the next X number of years.  Years ago I had someone convince me that a pair of frames looked good on me and I bought them.  I have probably worn them for a total of one week in all these years.  Mostly when my other glasses broke.

So the search continues.

Until tomorrow...

NEW FRAMES

I have been thinking for a long time about getting new frames because I need to be able to see when I read a book.  I can see to read a book if I take off my current glasses.  So all day long I take on and off my glasses to get work done.  At first it was okay then it was annoying now it is inefficient.

I just hate changing my frames.  My current frames are old and can't take the transition lens.

What kinds of frames will I get?  I can't wait to see.

Until tomorrow...

PROGRESSIVES OR READING GLASSES?

Okay, a sign that you are getting old is that your hair turns gray. Your middle gets a little thick. Your feet get a bit flat. And you can't see the menu in a dimly lit restaurant.

Yup, I am talking about reading glasses.  I have been having a harder time seeing for about a year. First it was seeing the playbill in the theatre. It is so dark I could not follow along.  Then it was reading small print with my glasses. I can read the print perfectly fine without my glasses. I just have to take them off to read.  Then this week I was doing payroll for a client and I was having a hard time seeing some of the time sheets. Now in my defense, some of the time sheets are in 6 or 8 font size. I doubt a 20 year old could read it easily!

I have come to the realization that my life would be easier if I would just give in and get reading glasses of some kind. Brenda thinks I should get the progressives. She thinks changing glasses is a pain in the butt. Brenda has progressives and she has gotten used to them. Although we always joke about how she moves her head up and down to see.

I dye my hair. I have arch supports in my shoes. And now I will have reading glasses. It is all down hill from here. What's next? Depends?

Until tomorrow...
