CANCELLED MY ACTIVITIES

I bought a new laptop and it will arrive tomorrow.

I was supposed to go to acupuncture today but I cancelled it earlier in the week. Now I wish I had kept the appointment.

I have had to cancel my tai chi meet ups. No tai chi until I can walk again.

Until tomorrow...

MY HANDS ARE SWOLLEN

What a long day!! I woke up early to go to tai chi. My hands were swollen and I had a hard time getting out of bed. That means a flare is either here or on it's way.

When I got home, I ate breakfast and got ready for my first restorative yoga class. The class was okay but many of the movements I could not do. I can't lean on my knees or my hands. Every time I take a yoga class knees and hands are part of most of the movements. Everyone says to use my fists or elbows. They have no idea how much those hurt on me. I may try it again just to see if it is different.

I am super fatigued so I am going to go to sleep.

Until tomorrow...

WHY IS IT SO 🔥🥵 HOT?

I had tai chi this morning and the Master says I need to practice more. It was so hot at 8:00 am that I got light headed from the heat. I had not eaten breakfast.

My meditation group was a bit of a bust tonight. One person texted they were not coming. I got on the video conference and the other person was not there. After waiting a few minutes, I went ahead and began meditating. A few minutes in, I got a text asking why I was not on the zoom. We worked it out and finally had time for a short meditation.

I hope tomorrow is cooler.

Until tomorrow...

CRAZY WEATHER

I went to tai chi and a friend of the tai chi master showed up. We ended up doing qi gong instead.

Today was weird weather. It was 61 degrees, then 75 degrees, then 86 degrees, then 62 degrees, then 90 degrees. It was still 74 degrees at 7:30 pm. Crazy day.

I realized I forgot to pay a bill. I rushed out and took care of it and filled the tank with gasoline. Then I took Lucky on a long walk (during the cool weather) where she walked down hill and I put her in the stroller and got a workout on the way back.

Until tomorrow...

FOCUSING ON SELF-CARE

What a beautiful day! It started out in the park doing tai chi and qi gong. I walked Lucky on a long walk with the doggie stroller. I ate breakfast in the garden while reading my book.

I spent time playing with my Oculus VR. I took a trip under the sea and played Beat Saber. It is a game where you have two light sabers and use them to virtually slash blocks. It is all done to music. It is quite fun.

Then I had accupuncture and meditation. I started thinking about the time I am spending on self-care. I spend 3 hours on tai chi, 1 hour in accupuncture, 1 hour on PT, and 7 hours on meditation. I certainly feel better. I can now walk 6,700 steps a day.

Until tomorrow...

FLOOR GUY ARRIVED

When I came home from tai chi this morning, the floor guy was there. The floor guy is back because two days ago I found problems with my floor. The wood was coming up. The guy came today to fix it. He had to take part of it up so he could screw it in. He had used the glue but that didn't work. It definitely sounds much better.

I ate my lunch in the backyard. I put my umbrella in my new stand. I could sit out without burning up.

Until tomorrow...

TIRED

I think I have the "after vacation hangover".  You know, the let down and exhaustion from the end of a vacation. I felt it when I had to wake up at 6:45 am.

I got up early to attend tai chi class. Another person also came and after a small bit of tai chi, we did qigong. It is supposed to be an easier for of tai chi. I did not find it easier and I had to keep lifting my arms and bend over. Those are hard for me.

Then I went to pick up the bird, Sunny. I got his wings and nails clipped and beak trimmed. Now that I have long hair the owner and wife didn't recognize me. They were saying, there is another bird who has a broken toe and overgrown beak. I took down my mask and they were shocked. My long hair makes me unrecognizable.

In the evening I had the nightly meditation group. Well, I think our group is now a group of two. That's okay.

Until tomorrow...

EYES

I don't think I mentioned this yesterday, I have a tear duct that is blocked. If you have never had a tear duct get blocked, I will try to describe it. Imagine having a stone in your shoe that hurts your foot each time you step. Now, image your foot is your eye and each blink is like having a stone in your eye. That is how it feels. This blocked tear duct is not as bad as others I have had.

I would be putting medicine on it but I have called twice and the eye doctor has not yet called in the prescription. I have been super nice up until now but tomorrow that will change. I have to drive a lot on Friday and this will annoy me if it is not fixed.

I had my tai chi course this morning and the Master wants me to come every weekday morning 1/2 hour later. He says I am picking it up quickly and am taking it seriously.

Then I spoke to the meditation zoom group and they want to do it every night. They are a great group of women.

I guess my days are planned out for awhile!!

Until tomorrow...

MBSR COURSE #8 THE FINAL

Today was the final MBSR online course. I was excited to meet one more time. Well, my pets decided they wanted to be part of the class! First Lucky would not lay down and paced the floors. Tick, tick, tick went her toenails. Then my bird, Sunny, decided to join the fun and started talking to himself and then screaming for attention. I was trying not to laugh during the meditation when Sunny was chattering to himself. He imitates a sound I make every morning; a sort of clicking. It was really hysterical to hear that while I am trying to meditate. He really liked the meditation leader's voice and every time he would talk, Sunny started to make noise. After a time of the screaming I finally put him to sleep (by covering his cage).

Overall, the course was excellent. It helped me deal with some of the stress I have been going through as well as, the pain. I didn't meditate yesterday or today and I really feel a difference. I am not as calm.

I had a situation today where a nice neighbor texted me to ask about the complaint made about me to the city. I had no idea there was a complaint made against me so I was shocked. It seems a neighbor is upset that I had construction done without a permit. I called my contractor and he told me that if there is no structural changes, no permit is needed. It left me thinking why would anyone make a complaint without knowing the facts? Why not ask me? I have one neighbor that I had some dealings with over the years and I suspect it is him. Normally I would have been very angry about something like this, but instead I was more interested in what makes a person do this type of behavior.

I went to tai chi with my 82 year old instructor and was invited to join a tai chi class with a number of people on Saturday morning. I think I will go in a few weeks when I am not busy. Sounds fun.  My instructor has been teaching me each Wednesday morning and after learning the moves, I video him so I can practice at home. I chromecast it from my phone to the TV so it is like he is right in the room with me!

Anyway that was the majority of my day. I have to get up in the morning and meditate so I am going to sleep.

Until tomorrow...

MBSR COURSE #7

Last week when I was visiting the dentist to get my Invisilign checked, the dentist accidentally cut my lip with filing paper. It has been a week and my lip is still sore. This morning it had a white bubble. I contacted the doctor yesterday and she said if it was still sore today, come in. I went to her office and she doesn't think it is infected. She gave me a rinse I have to use twice a day.

I went to Tai Chi this morning and the instructor was very happy I practiced. He gave me the next move. There are a lot of moves so it will take a while to learn. The instructor says I should know it all in November. Yikes!

Tonight I thought it was my last MBSR course but next week is the final course. This week we talked about living your life while continuing the meditation practice. I am organizing a meditation group for after class.

Until tomorrow...

ONE MORE DAY OF CONSTRUCTION

The contractor worked again today. It is looking very good but there are some spots that need to be fixed where the painting is subpar. Then they are putting the deck back on. Then they finished. Yay!

Today was a day of work and practicing tai chi. The instructor had me record him doing the beginning moves and I Chromecast it on to my TV to practice. Since I see him tomorrow, I needed to practice.

Tomorrow is the final day of the MBSR course. I was trying to think of something to do on Wednesday evenings and I decided to take a photography course. I have had this course for about two years so now is the time.

Until tomorrow...

MBSR #4

I woke up early to go to Tai Chi. I recorded the instructor so I can practice correctly. He seemed frustrated that I did not practice. I need to commit to the practice sessions since he is volunteering to help me.

I am moving out more stuff. Today I took a huge bag of pills to a drop-off center. I am sure you know that putting old medications into the water system is causing problems for fish, tadpoles, frogs, etc. Not to mention our drinking water. I had a gallon plastic bag of old, unused medications to put in the drop box. I still have liquid, inhalers and lotions to get rid of. I need to find a location.

I spent the rest of the day finishing the clearing out of my office. Once I had that finished, I worked on my bedroom and bathroom. Then I started on my living room. In my living room I still had old Christmas and birthday cards on a shelf. I am embarrassed to stay how many years worth but it was since Christmas 2019. I was just stacking them and thinking I would go through them and I never did. Yes, they were opened but I want to make sure I have the person's newest address and maybe there is something nice someone said. They are all gone now except the super nice ones.

I have one full day and one partial day to finish the clearing out before the cleaning team comes.

Today in the MBSR course we practiced meditative walking. It is a type of really slow and intentional walking. I think I do it by accident while I walk Lucky uphill. She goes very slow uphill these days. Super fast downhill and on flat areas.

After writing my post last night I got a phone call on my cellphone. It was the second call that I received that dropped in the middle of the call. I could not call the person back because the phone was acting weird. I called the carrier and got tech support. The very nice woman figured out the problem and fixed the phone. It turns out that when it was sent to me, there was a button not checked and it was making the phone only work on the cell tower I was nearest. So when I was at the park with Lucky, the phone found that cell tower. It didn't switch to my cell tower so when I was on the phone, the phone was confused. The woman from the carrier fixed it and now the phone works fine. Phew!

Until tomorrow...

MBSR COURSE #3

I woke up really early to meet this guy I met at my old tai chi class, to do tai chi. I met him in a park at 7:30 am to do tai chi. He is willing to teach me for free. He just likes teaching people. He is 83 years old!

He was very patient with me since I have limited capacity to remember the steps. He just showed me the first two steps. The reason tai chi is difficult is because there are different types and different lengths and different number of movements. He does the 128 movement alone but does the 64 movement with me. Or should I say the two movement tai chi since that is all we did. I met another person who he taught and they do the long version on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I met him before her class. Turns out she has dementia and is doing tai chi for memory and exercise. I may go more often. Let's see.

Tonight I had my third MBSR class. We did lying down yoga as well as other things. I could only do so much because my hands can't grasp things. We had to grasp our legs and knees for a long time. That is when I "tap out". The pain in my hands is enormous. It is not for me. I did the rest of the lying down yoga that didn't include hands.

I started putting Lucky in the doggie stroller. I think she needs to get used to it. Her arthritis is getting so bad in her back legs. Here is a photo:

She is such a good girl. She just sat down and let me push her around. We need to keep testing before I trust her. I put my previous dog Happy in it once and she leapt out in the middle of the street and almost choked herself. Don't want that to happen with Lucky. She does look cute though, doesn't she?

Until tomorrow...

MBSR CLASS #2

Today was a day of mindfulness. First I went to have my teeth cleaned and got my next set of invisilign braces.

I got my photos back from pictures I took a long time ago. Only about two were any good. It was a long time since I used a film camera.

Then I went to Tai Chi. There was a Tai Chi master watching the class and I liked his style better. Unfortunately he practices at 7:30 am in the park. 7:30 am! I have to think about this. He does the 64 movement tai chi which is the style I learned 15 years ago. The current class I have gone to twice does the 128 movement tai chi. I don't know how to do it and it really isn't a class that teaches, it is more of a class where people do it and you have limp along to figure it out. Not the best teaching style.

Then tonight was MBSR class #2. Lucky was not cooperating with me and wanted to play 3/4 of the way through. This is a good thing so I turned off the video and played with her. She hasn't wanted to play in a long while. The class was over 1 hour of different types of meditation (including Qigong) and then after break, the teacher talked and then we broke into break out rooms. No one was talking so I started acting as facilitator. I met some nice people. We got out of class early so I am happily going to bed.

Until tomorrow...

REBUILD DAY 6

Today the builders began painting. I have a lovely lite green color primer on part of my yellow house. I'm guessing it was primer leftover from another job. I am not really sure whàt else they did because I was in and out all day.

I went to my first tai chi meet up. It is not a class but a place where people gather to do tai chi. There were two women there; one substitute teaching and the other was at her first day.

Later I took Lucky to the vet. She hasn't seemed well since Monday night. They gave her fluids and did more blood work. The results come tomorrow.

Then in the evening I had my first MBSR class. It included a 30 minute breathing exercise, introductions of all 27 people, and a 35 minute body scanning exercise. There was also a lecture by the instructor. During the first hour I struggled to stay awake during the lecture but then the rest of the class I was very awake and active. We have a bunch of homework to do before next week and it's late and I am going to bed.

Until tomorrow...
