DAY ONE HUNDRED FORTY-TWO OF COOKING COURSE

I finally finished the composed dish Chocolate Hemp Tart.  It was days in the making.  First I had to make the Candied Cacao Nibs.  Then I made the Candied Sprouted Buckwheat.

Today I made the Chocolate Ganache, CBD-infused Tart Crust and Hemp Carmel Cream.  Then I put it all together in little tart tins.

They really taste amazing.  I ate one of them just to try it out for my posting.  I have five more in the refrigerator.  It is going to be very hard not to eat them all quickly.

Lucky and I went for a walk on this gorgeous 80 degree day.  We walked quickly to get it over since it was sunny, warm and lots of people were out and about.

I sat outside when we came back from the walk and read my book in the shade.  It was quite relaxing.

I barbecued for the first time this season now that I have vegan burgers.  I had the best burger for dinner.  Yum!

Oh, yeah.  I dyed my hair.  It is a bit reddish/burgundy.  I like it.  I have a Mallen streak in my hair.  That is a white/gray steak of hair.  Some think it is cool.  I didn't think it was too bad when I had short hair but it is so long since Covid that it is really obvious now.  Sort of like Bonnie Raitt obvious.  It is really called Poliosis. People with poliosis have a decreased level or complete lack of melanin in the roots of affected hairs, also called hair follicles. It can be a sign of thyroid disease or a B-12 deficiency and the cause could be an autoimmune disease.  Well, it is reddish/burgundy now and in a few weeks it will be pink.

Until tomorrow...

SOCIAL EXPERIMENT

Weeks ago my hair was its natural auburn with a streak of gray (think Bonnie Raitt with dark hair) in the front.  When I rode public transportation I was noticing that folks were getting up and giving me their seats. I am not nearly old enough to be given a seat in the disabled/elderly seating area.  Time and time again people were getting up. Not just young people either. Folks who were older than me!

A week ago I died my hair. My streak is now a vibrant reddish.  Today I took public transit.  I took two trains and a bus. Not one person offered me a seat. In fact no one gave me a second look. To be scientific, I will have to ride a few more buses and trains together a real sample.

It feels good to be young again.

Until tomorrow...

GETTING RID OF THE GRAY

I dye my hair. I am not ashamed to say it. I do it myself, at home, in the bathroom. I use temporary "all natural" hair dye.

You see I have this streak of gray. It is a Bonnie Raitt-type gray streak. Right in the front. A nice gray streak. I try to cover it by strategically parting my hair but the best way to cover it is dying it.

I dye it a lovely shade of burgundy or red. People say it looks good. I like it and that is really all that matters.

I have been trying different hair styles lately and haven't had time to dye my hair. So tonight is the night. It is so funny I put off the dye job because it takes such a little bit of time. Only about 30 minutes. One sitcom. It is hard sometimes because my arms get tired during the rinsing part. When you dye hair, you have to rinse your hair for a long time to get all the dye out. I find it hard to keep my arms up in the air for that length of time.

The dye is in my hair as we speak and it is almost time to rinse. Got to go put the shower on to get the water warm.

Until tomorrow...
