REBUILD DAY 8

The builders are moving along. Today they finished painting the trim outside. I know they did other things but I was away most of the day so I didn't pay much attention. My neighbor texted me to tell me the back of the house looks good. That is where they have been working.

I had my third acupuncture appointment. This time she put the needles on my back and feet. This was also the first time a needle pinched me. It was such a shock because I have not felt any of the other needles at all. She took the needle out. She was surprised because normally the front of a person is more sensitive.

I started to get ready for tomorrow's MRI by taking out my earrings and getting out my mask and documents.

I meditated first thing this morning and it went terrible. I really had no idea how noisy my area was in the morning. Garbage trucks, people parking, dogs being walked and construction. It was so distracting! I think meditating later in the day works better for me. It is much quieter in the afternoon or evening.

Tomorrow morning is coming fast.

 Until tomorrow...

REBUILD DAY 3

Today was exhausting. The guys showed up early and got to work drywalling the downstairs.

I had my "interview" for the MBSR course so I was occupied. The interview turned into a conversation. It was very helpful and the trainer thought I gave him some good information about my RA and fibromyalgia. It will help when we do yoga and such. I also talked about my past trauma of losing foster kids and my previous relationship. I told him how people keep telling me to relax and I think I am relaxed. He said that people who suffer from chronic pain and trauma have a heightened level of stress that they don't even see because they have been under stress for so long. He said this course will help me. I hope!!

Then I went to accupuncture. This is round two and this time my left leg was sort of cramping but restless. It made it hard to relax. She said I should have rang the bell and she would have done something. I guess this is also a trait of people who have a chronic issue. I don't like to bother people. I can stand the discomfort. I would have rung the bell if it HURT.  But it didn't. Also I was cold because I turned down the blanket. Won't do that next time!

After accupuncture I went to a floor store to look at bamboo flooring. The place was closed for lunch so I had 25 minutes to kill. I called a potential new client and she talked and talked. Meanwhile I was in my hot car for almost an hour. I got the gig and I up-sold her for more work.

I finally went in to the floor store and I was glad I did. There were two options and I thought I wanted option A but once I got there, I saw option B and I liked option B better. Plus option B is less expensive which is always a bonus. It is $1.00 less per square foot. I don't know how many square feet we need but if we need 100 that is $100 saved!

I finally got home exhausted. I really wasn't supposed to do all that after accupuncture but I was desperate. The flooring had to be ordered today if I wanted the project done before my parents arrive.

Oh by the way, another client let me know he will be renewing my contract at the end of the month.

At the end of the day, the under floor has been ripped up. The wall has been drywalled and mudded. It looks good. He promised he would rip up the stairs and lay new stairs in 24 hours so I don't have to go days with no stairs. They will return on Monday so I will have peace this weekend.

Until tomorrow...

FIRST ACCUPUNCTURE APPOINTMENT

Today was my first accupuncture appointment. I will be honest, I have avoided most Eastern Medicine for years. I thought it was all "woo woo". I felt like it was not going to do anything for me.

Then I went to Sedona and my thoughts of Eastern philosophy changed. People who knew nothing about me had me in tears over my trauma. But the most important thing I heard over and over was that I held too much stress.

I went back to Sedona two years later and I heard again that I carried too much stress.

I was converted. I believe in the mind body spirit connection. That is why I am trying accupuncture. If people have been doing this for 2,000 years there must be something to it.

At the appointment the Dr. talked to me for about 40 minutes. She wanted to hear everything about me. Eating, sleeping, exercise, pain, current medicines, the story about my autoimmune diseases. Everything.

Then I laid down on a table and she rolled up my pants legs and began putting the super thin needles in. I give myself injections weekly so I wasn't afraid of the needles but I was surprised that I didn't even feel 80% of them going in.

Then she leaves the room. I have a panic buzzer just in case. It was funny because it was the same wireless doorbell I have on my side door. I laid there. I had a weird sensation in my left arm that felt like warm. My left wrist had a slight sting for about 10 min. Then I got some zings: the bottom of my left foot and the top of my right thigh. They didn't hurt but felt like the pain if someone punched me. Then I got restless legs on my right leg for about 10 min.

Then she came to check on me. I said I was fine (and had almost fell asleep). The minute she left my nose began to itch. Of course I can't scratch it and the more I wriggled my nose, the mask tickled my nose more.

I started fantasizing that I was on Survivor and I had to ignore the itch in order to win immunity. It got me through. I guess I won immunity.

I came home and drank tons of water and sat outside and read my book in the sunshine.

I go back next week.

Until tomorrow...
