I went to Target today and saw a great deal on shirts. 3 for $20. I have a bunch of short sleeved shirts that I got a few years ago when I went on a cruise and they are too big on me. They were too big last year and they are really too big this year. I grabbed nine shirts in different styles and colors at Target.
I came home and went through my short sleeved shirts and tried them all on. Any shirt that is a Large and is too big is gone. Into the box to be donated. I am getting rid of about 15 shirts. No more keeping shirts that I will never wear again.
I still have some shirts that will still fit and now I have the nine new shirts. Woo Hoo!
Until tomorrow...
A blog about my life with rheumatoid arthritis and all that goes along with it. The ups and downs. The highs and lows. The laughter and the tears. Sounds so dramatic, doesn't it?!

BOUGHT SOME CLOTHES THAT FIT
Today I went to Target and Kohl's and bought some clothes that fit. I am tired of having all my clothes fall off my body and having to use a belt to cinch my pants around my waist. I know it is a good problem to have! I just don't want to buy very many clothes because I don't plan to stay this weight and I don't want to buy clothes that I grow out of in a few months.
I bought three pairs of pajamas. I won't be growing out of those. Even if I lose more weight, I can't possibly fit in a smaller size because the pants will be too small. My current pajamas are so huge that if I don't tie the waist, they fall right off my body. The top looks like I could fit another person in with me.
I also bought one pair of jeans, a cute shirt, and a shirt to replace a Christmas present that someone gave me that was way too big.

NEW SCALE
For weeks the scale I have been weighing myself on has been acting funky. I weigh myself and I weigh X. Then a few minutes later I weigh myself again and I weigh Y. I changed the battery, still no luck. I just knew I could not lose 2 pounds in five minutes.
Today I bought a new scale. The old scale has gone in the trash. I guess 10 years is a good life for a scale. The new scale has all kinds of fancy stuff. It measures BMI, etc.
It is a pleasure to weigh myself now. Especially since I have lost 16 pounds.

WENT ON THE SCALE TODAY
I weighed myself today. Who am I kidding, I weigh myself every day. But today I lost just over 15 pounds! I am pretty excited considering my progress has been slowly with getting sick. Exercise has been out if the question. I am thinking of starting to bike again. What's a little asthma to slow down the progress? Can't start this weekend. This heat wave is unbearable.
Instead I will sit and bask in the glory of the news that I lost 15 pounds.

SCALE MALFUNCTION
I have this really pretty, fancy scale. It is a glass and chrome scale from Weight Watchers. I have always liked it because the numbers are really clear and large. I have never been able to make the other functions like BMI work but I am sure I could with the manual.
About a month ago I noticed that the scale weighed me different amounts. Not just different amounts different days or different times of the day. I weighed myself and then I weighed myself 2 minutes later and the scale weighed me a different amount. It became apparent that the scale was having issues. If I moved the scale from one location to another my weight changed. Sometimes 2.5 pounds. It also sometimes said I gained 3 pounds in one day. Or lost 2.3 pounds. It is getting screwy.
I changed the battery thinking that was the problem. No change. I think it is time to purchase a new scale.

BACK ON THE SCALE
Okay, life is beginning to slow back down. It is beginning to get back to normal. Time to get back on the weight loss bandwagon. I have been walking the dogs more frequently, trying to get in shape. I have also been walking Brenda! She needed to walk and I needed exercise!
This week I am going to start the stationary bike. We have it in our "exercise area" in our garage. I made this whole carpeted area in the garage that has our stationary bike, free weights, hula hoop, treadmill and pilates equipment. There is even a TV and VCR/DVD player with cable. I just have to get my lazy butt down there to use it!
If I would just make the time and go down and get on that stationary bike and ride for 30 minutes a day and then take the dogs out 1-2 times a day, I would see some results. At this rate, I will not see any changes before my weigh-in in December. I was supposed to lose 5-7 pounds in 3 months.
My ankle is still feeling really good. I actually forget that it is supposed to hurt! I am still wearing the sneakers but I have gone out twice with my clogs. Just for a short distance. It felt good to wear something other than sneakers. I am SO tired of sneakers.
My goal this week is to get on the stationary bike a few times.
Weight update: 178.7 lbs ugh...

WEIGHT
Okay, it is time to tell you all my little secret. I guess if I tell you then it won't be my secret. Then I will have to do something about it. I will be held accountable. Do I want to tell you? I don't know. Ehhh...
I will. I will tell you. I made an agreement with my nutritionist to lose some weight by December. Yes, this December. Three months from now. I agreed to lose 7 pounds.
Remember, I put some weight on because I have been motionless for the last 6 - 8 months due to my ankle surgery and injury. This made it very difficult for me to perform any exercise.
Now, I am able to walk the dogs around the block. I am trying to do it every day. I am not accomplishing it every day but I am trying. I am also doing my PT exercises but they don't really make me break a sweat.
Since I made this agreement with my nutritionist, I have managed to put on weight! Isn't that always the way? The whole time I was in a cast, I barely put on a pound. Now I have put on 4-5 pounds. Of course the fact that my Crohn's is acting up doesn't help me at all.
I will have to tell you my ugly secret! My weight! No one wants to tell you their weight. I think we would all rather tell you our SAT scores or our original hair color or what our driving record says than tell you our weight!
My weight today: 180.1 lbs. Yikes!
Now that my secret is out, I will have to check in with you. I will tell you how it is going. Maybe this will help me lose the weight. It certainly seemed to help my sister-in-law in her weight loss challenge. Of course she started running! Not so sure that will happen for me. Walking is in my future, lots of walking. Luckily little Lucky loves to walk, walk, walk!
