HAWAII DAY 1

Well my start to my trip to Hawaii definitely began with the bang. First I got up early and got to the airport in plenty of time. I had a wonderful cab driver who was very sweet and he brought me and my luggage inside the airport lobby and got me a wheelchair. I was so early that I beat the people that pushed the wheelchairs to your gate. So I had to sit for about a half an hour and wait for someone to come and push me to my gate.

Getting through TSA was a lesson in patience. Because I was in a wheelchair I was wheeled right up to the front of the line but then I had to wait for a female TSA worker to check my boot. My boot had to be taken off and run through the X-ray machine and then my sock had to be inspected. I offered to take my sock off and they can run it to the X-ray machine but they declined and instead felt all around on my foot. Seemed rather silly. That whole process took about another 45 minutes.

My flight was very nice. I sat next to two very nice women who both wore masks the whole time and we're super helpful when we landed. In Hawaii the plane lands right on the tarmac and you have to walk down a flight of stairs. The two women carried my backpack and my medicine bag so I could hold on to the handrail.

Once I got my luggage I waited in a long line to get the shuttle to the rental car place. Then when I got to the rental car place I went up to the Fast Track thinking I would get my rental car but alas they claimed I didn't have my fast track on this reservation. So I had to go get him another long line to get my rental car. Luckily there were some very nice people in line who kept my place while I sat down for a little bit. It was very hot and I have been standing for a long time.

Finally I get to the front of line and get my rent a car. I happily drove off and went to the supermarket to get food. I went only 20 miles down the road and it was clear, there was something wrong with the car. Every time I drove over 40 miles an hour there was a flapping noise as if someone was in the trunk banging. After stopping a few times to see if I could see what the problem was, I called road assistance. That was an incredibly useless phone call because the man kept asking me where I was but I just knew I was on some highway in the middle of nowhere in Hawaii. So I ended up turning around and going back to the airport.
Once back at the rental car company at the airport I saw the same service person that I'd already talked to twice. I called him over and told him what happened and he rushed my new car along.

When the car came around I had some very nice people help me with my bags and groceries. This time the car was wonderful. I got to the hotel and the nice lady at the front desk helped me with my bags and groceries.

Just to give you an idea, I landed at 11:30am and got to the hotel at 6 pm. It took 6.5 hours to get off the plane, get my luggage, get to the rental place, get car #1, then food shop and drive 20 miles and then drive back and get car #2 then drive 2 hours to the hotel. It was a lot of standing around. Let's see what my feet feel like tomorrow.  Oh yeah, I was too late to get dinner so I ate snacks.

Until tomorrow...

PACKING FOR HAWAII

Months ago I made a plan to visit a friend in Hawaii. This was all before I fell and hurt my feet. After having the doctor give me the okay, I decided to go to Hawaii. So all day today I've been packing, cleaning, and delivering animals to their respective boarding places.

Yes, I drove my car a short distance to drop off the bird and then drove it a bit more to charge up the battery. I'm not sure I mentioned before that my battery was almost dead a few days ago. I needed to charge it up before I went away for a week. They're driving was okay but still a little painful.

The dog was picked up towards the end of the day by the dog sitter. I now have the house to myself but I have to be up at the crack of dawn to catch my plane.

Until tomorrow...

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS

Day of the Dead! It is a tribute to the afterlife, a day meant to honor those who have died and keep their memory alive. Unlike Halloween, which historically was a day to ward off evil spirits, Day of the Dead is more about paying respects to loved ones who have died.

I got this in Sedona during the Day of the Dead celebration.

ALL SAINTS DAY

I am so happy to be part of my meditation group. It is only three women but we are so supportive of each other. I had a frustrating day and they listened to me for a few minutes. When others have a bad day, we all listen and try to offer solutions. Then we meditate together.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN 🎃👻🕷️🕸️🍬

Well, I had 10 trick-or-treaters this year. I even dressed up like a surgeon. I had on black scrubs, one of those surgical hats (with a Halloween motif) and a matching facemask. I thought I looked good.

I gave out vegan candy. It is really good. There skittles-type candy and gummies in the shape of Halloween bats and things. They are made with natural fruit and no nuts, dairy and soy. They are too good to have in the house. I ate too many this evening. It was easy when the bag was sealed but on e I opened it, it was all over!

I did another project and got more work done. That was my day.

ANOTHER SET OF X-RAYS?

I woke up early today to go to the foot doctor again. She checked my foot and then sent me down for x-rays. This is my fourth set of X-rays in a month. It showed that my right foot is not broken a second time. I must have just twisted it. She says that my left ligament is still wonky.

So the first thing she did was tell me to swap my boots. The big boot is now on my right foot with a break is and the Birkenstock type boot has been retired. I am now wearing the night wrap on my left foot all day long and at night. She said that I can put my left foot with the wrap into a pair of sturdy shoes or sneakers that have hard bottoms. Well it just so happens that my new Inka sneakers have a hard bottom. So when I go outside I can put my left foot in a sneaker. I've also putting my left foot with the wrap in my Oofas.

It's been just 10 hours and my right foot feels better already. Being protected in the big boot is making such a difference.

So yesterday I went out and my car battery was not able to turn on my car. The battery wasn't dead completely it just wasn't strong enough. Today my neighbor came over with some battery that starts the battery and his trickle battery. After about 20 minutes the car started and I stood outside and let it run for 30 minutes. Luckily a neighbor came by to chat with me while I was standing there. I would have sat down but the boot doesn't really fit in the driver's seat. Now I have to start the car every day this week to charge up the battery.

Until tomorrow..

WATCHED ALL TWILIGHT

It was beautiful today. I sat outside for a short bit. It is a bit of a pain getting out back with two casts so I don't go much.

I finished watching all five Twilight movies. I started the first one on Friday. Watched two and three on Saturday and four and five today. I didn't dnt live it but it did get better along the way. The acting in the first three was bad. I had so many questions like why did Jacob wear such a bad wig? How does a human wear clothes, turn into a giant werewolf and then when he turns back to a human he is wearing clothes again? Where did the Cullen's get all their money? How did they suddenly have a nursery full of baby stuff? Amazon?? Why couldn't the non-human eating vampires eat meat from a butcher? Those are just some of my questions.

IS IT MY FOOT?

It might be my foot. I have now felt nauseous for two days. Not the whole day but after I do a bunch of walking. It makes me think that my foot is not healed enough and the pain is making me nauseous. I checked and I do not have a fever or COVID. The only thing I can think of is my foot.

I am only using a cane now (and only outside and on stairs) and maybe it is too soon.

I spent my whole morning working on invoices. I finished. It is surprising considering I used a new program that sucked! I want my QuickBooks back! Hopefully I get my computer back before the next invoices are due.

Until tomorrow...

JUMPY ARM AND LEG

I really wish I had something exciting to write today but I had a work emergency that was supposed to take a few minutes turned into hours. I don't like it when work stuff takes up my day off. It makes me feel unbalanced because I was looking forward to that day to get things done.

I did go to acupuncture in the afternoon. I'm finding acupuncture to be very interesting. Many times when I go to acupuncture I get what I call jumpy legs. After she puts the little needles in me, which by the way do not hurt, sometimes different parts of my body get jumpy. But jumping I mean like a nerve is triggered. I haven't quite figured out if the jumpy is a good thing or a bad thing. Today my left leg, where I have the torn ligament, was very jumpy. My left arm, where I think I hit my elbow when I fell, was also jumpy. Next time I go I think I'll ask her if jumpy means good or jumpy means bad or jumpy means nothing.

FOOT PAIN

My foot is still bothering me today so I called the doctor's office. I wanted to talk to the doctor to see if this is normal or not but the receptionist would not put me through to the doctor or let me leave a message. Instead I had to get an appointment for Monday to let her look at it. I have a feeling she's going to look at it and say everything's normal and I would have wasted part of my day to go down to the appointment.

I am hoping that nothing's wrong and I can go on my trip in a couple weeks with no pain.

Until tomorrow...
