DAY ONE HUNDRED FIFTY-THREE OF THE HAPPINESS PROJECT

Day 153. On the spur of the moment I traveled to see the Super Bowl City.  It was pretty interesting.  It was not as crowded as I thought it would be.  There was not much to do.  I saw a choir singing and kids trying different things like riding a bike to make power.  It was a nice but chilly day and it was fun to see but I am not sure it was worth it.  I didn't go to the other site, the NFL area because it took me about 25 minutes to get through security and I didn't want to go through more security to see more stuff.  I guess I expected more things to do or see.

On my way home I stopped at a hardware store and they had Lava Lamp light bulbs.  I was so excited.  Now I don't have to have $7 light bulbs shipped to me!  Yippee!

Until tomorrow...

DAY ONE HUNDRED FIFTY-TWO OF THE HAPPINESS PROJECT

Day 152. Today I turned on my lava lamp because I wanted to sit downstairs and watch a movie and have my lava lamp on.  I had it on for 3 minutes and pop.  The light bulb blew.  Man I was disappointed.  Mostly because I thought I was going to have to buy a new light bulb online.  It is a funky little bulb and there are warnings all over the packaging about putting any light bulb but their special light bulb in the lava lamp.  Would my lava lamp now be out of service for weeks while I order and wait for a new bulb?  Huh.

I met me friend J for lunch.  I walked a really long way to meet him and then we walked further to get to a wonderful brunch place that sadly is closing down.  The place lost its lease when the landlord jacked up the rent 500%.  Who does that?  A greedy landlord!  So the place has to move.  It is really sad.  The place is packed all the time.  It is one of the few places that serves vegan breakfast all day.

After lunch we walked to a park and sat and talked.  I asked J if he would help me train for the bike ride in July.  He seemed happy to help.  I am going to start to train on 2/1.  I am going to train inside at first since it is rainy and cold outside. I am not happy biking in the cold and rain.

I watched Nebraska and Change Up to end the day.  Nebraska was more entertaining than I thought it would be.  It is about a man who thinks he won the Reader's Digest Sweepstakes and wants to go to Lincoln, Nebraska to collect the winnings.  Change Up had it's funny moments.  It was about two best friends who switch bodies (yeah, right) and what happens when they do since one guy is a father and an attorney and the other guy is a single rarely employed quasi actor.

DAY ONE HUNDRED FIFTY-ONE OF THE HAPPINESS PROJECT

Day 151.  It was an exhausting day.  I literally fell asleep at 9 pm.  Right after the show I wanted to watch at 9 pm started.  I was out cold on the couch and woke up 2 hours later.  Sad, really.  Big Friday night...

Until tomorrow...

DAY ONE HUNDRED FIFTY OF THE HAPPINESS PROJECT

Day 150.  One hundred and fifty days of Happiness.

I bought a lava lamp and I am in love with it.  I always wanted a lava lamp as a kid.  They were all the rage but I never got one.  It was too frivolous an expense.  Now that I am an adult I wanted one and I got one.  It is fun to put it on when I am laying in bed and just watch it.  I think I need to put some Jimi Hendrix music on next time. Or The Who, The Doors, The Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, Santana or Cream.

I saw my nutritionist today.  He is really happy I have been so successful at keeping my weight down.  He said the hardest part for most people is not losing weight it is keeping it off.  I have been quite successful at keeping the weight off.  We talked about recipes I can make that I would like.

I am thinking of riding in a bike event in July to raise money for arthritis research.  It is 26 miles and I have never ridden that far so I am nervous.  I also have no way to get my bike to the event.  So I have some kinks to work out but I think it would be fun.  If you have been reading for a long time, you will remember two years ago I was supposed to ride a 12 mile bike ride but I ended up getting RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome) and could not ride my bike (or drive) for months.  Then in November of 2014 I had my bike accident and I have not gotten back on my bike.  I think I will start on my stationary bike.  Build up my muscles while it is raining and cold.

Until tomorrow...

DAY ONE HUNDRED FORTY-NINE OF THE HAPPINESS PROJECT

Day 149. I am really happy.  Someone found my mailbox key and turned it in to the Post Office.  Today when I went to get my mail, the post woman said I have your key!  I said well, I lost my key!  I am so happy that an honest person turned it in.

I was also happy because my new cookbook was in my box.  It is a Vegan Indian cookbook. I have come to love Indian food and I want to learn to cook it.  Now that I have the cookbook I have to buy the spices.  I do not have most of the spices used in Indian cooking.  I can't eat spicy food and, as I always say, spicy is such an individual thing.  What you think is not spicy might be spicy to me.  What I think is spicy may seem mild to you.  If I cook my own food I can make it as spicy or mild as I want.

A previous client contacted me and hired me for a project.  Now I am really busy!  Yay!

The chocolate vegan cake my friend gave me is decadent.  I had a piece last night and will have a piece tonight.  Chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream.  Yum!

Until tomorrow...

DAY ONE HUNDRED FORTY-EIGHT OF THE HAPPINESS PROJECT

Day 148.  I am feeling much better than last week.  The thrush is gone.  The sore throat is gone.  The cough is partially gone.  The horribly runny, sinus infection is gone.  I don't have a yeast infection from taking the anti-biotics.  So overall life is good.

I still have some sinus issues that are not clearing up.  The asthmatic cough and tightness in my chest is not going away.   I am sure they will clear up.

Meanwhile Happi's pink eye is all cleared up.  I guess she finally stopped scratching her eyes.

Tonight a friend gave me 1/2 a vegan chocolate cake.  Yum!  I am sitting here dreaming of eating a piece with vanilla soy ice cream and coconut whipped cream.  Delicious.

To end my month of Friendship I made plans with three friends this weekend.  Ice cream with one, coffee with another and just getting together with another.  I really want to see Kung Fu Panda 3.  I am such a kid.

Until tomorrow...

DAY ONE HUNDRED FORTY-SEVEN OF THE HAPPINESS PROJECT

Day 147.  Today was the day the cable company came to fix my cable.  I am tired of seeing the local channels flicker.  It is annoying.  I am convinced it is because the cable coming into my house got loose from the construction across the street.  I think they must have pulled the cable and now it is loose and water is possibly getting inside the connection.

The cable guy came and checked things out.  He was annoyed because the guy driving the cherry picker could not come so he had to climb the pole.  He agrees with me that something is wrong with the cable wire coming into the house.  Now I have to wait until the cherry picker truck comes and checks out the cables.  It better be before the Super Bowl!  I want to be happy!!!

Until tomorrow...

DAY ONE HUNDRED FORTY-SIX OF THE HAPPINESS PROJECT

Day 146. Today I tried to install an outside light fixture.  It was a disaster.  Okay, not a disaster but I didn't get it installed.

I bought the light replace the light in the backyard.  I want a sensor light in the backyard and the light out back does not have a sensor.  After dragging the ladder, new light and screwdrivers out back, I realized that the current light was held onto the house by one screw and the new light had four screws.  That would required drilling holes and I don't currently have drill bits.

Then I thought I would take the new light and replace my light out front.  The sensor light out front is working but hanging on by a thread.  So I called my step-father and he walked me through how to remove the light.  Then things went awry.  There were too many wires.  I found out later that the contractor had piggybacked wires and that confused me.

My neighbor walked by just as I could not get the electricity to come back on from the breaker.  Was a wire loose?  This is why I hate electricity.  My nice neighbor took over and installed the light for me.  He had to drill new holes and rewire the light.  I now have a working light.  Yay!  And as a bonus, the electricity works downstairs again.

I made soup for dinner.  Tofu, Kale Vegetable Soup.  It is really good.  It has tofu, kale, carrots, celery, mushrooms, peas and pasta noodles.  Very tasty.

Until tomorrow...

DAY ONE HUNDRED FORTY-FIVE OF THE HAPPINESS PROJECT

Day 145.  Today I met a friend for lunch.  I have been craving a burger and fries for a week.  I never ate one during my vacation which is shocking.  Usually I have at least one burger during vacation since it is an easy thing to eat.

I devoured my fries and ate about 1/2 the burger.  I still have a craving.  I may have to have another burger.  There is a really good burger/sandwich place nearby and I may have to go there soon.  They also have the best steak fries.

After we ate lunch we went to a cafe to have a chai/ tea and look at the pictures of my trip.  It was nice to hang out for an afternoon with a friend.

I then watched two movies: Gone Girl and Jenny's Wedding.

Gone Girl was really good.  It is a bit old and I am sure you all know all about it since it was up for all sorts of awards and may have won some.  It had a surprise twist that I didn't expect.  It kept me quite entertained.

Jenny's Wedding is about a 30-something girl who is not married and is constantly nagged by her family about her non-married situation.  But she has a secret that tears the family apart. I thought is was very good.

Until tomorrow...

DAY ONE HUNDRED FORTY-FOUR OF THE HAPPINESS PROJECT

Day 144.  Today is a day of musing and items I have neglected to post.

1. During my flight this week, something very weird happened.  We were flying and we hit some slight turbulence.  All of a sudden an announcement came on "Place the mask over both your mouth and nose and secure with the elastic band. Tighten by pulling on the ends of the elastic bands. Even though oxygen is flowing, the plastic bag may not inflate. If you are traveling with children, or are seated next to someone who needs assistance, place the mask on yourself first, then offer assistance."  Everyone in the plan went "Huh?"  We were all looking around and waiting for the oxygen masks to drop down.  It was mildly concerning.  Then the pilot came on and announced that the announcement came on by accident and that we should disregard.

2. My asthma and cough have gotten better but it is still there and annoying.  My sinus infection seems to be much better.

3. Happi's pink eye in her left eye is much better.  This morning I woke up and she now has conjunctivitis in her right eye.  I told her not to scratch her eyes!  Poor baby.  Pink eye in two eyes.  She is a miserable baby.

4. Poor Lucky woke up with a tummy ache today.  Luckily I had the vet on the phone to talk about Happi's eyes and she told me to give her Pepcid AC.  It made her feel better.  Two sick dogs in one day.  Ugh.

5. I got a new client today.  I am really happy.  Turns out someone gave them my name.  Always feels good to have folks speak positively about you.

6. I still have my Christmas cards hanging up.  I guess it is time to take them down.  It is just so sad to think Christmas is over.

Until tomorrow...
