SOLAR GENERATOR WORKING

 I figured out my solar generator. The hardest part was finding a plug that was within 4 feet of where I could put it. I have an older house and there aren't many plugs especially in the garage (where you would put a generator). Then to find one that is within four feet. The plug I wanted to use is 5 feet from the generator so that didn't work. You can't use an extension cord either.

Then I had to figure out how I would get the electricity from the generator to the items I need. That took math and measuring. I think I have enough extension cords. 

I got the generator going and it took 2 hours to charge it up. It was super fast. 

The water damage restoration guy came today. He has a gadget that he puts against the wall that shows what is still wet in the wall. There is a lot still wet in the wall that I didn't know. That is so depressing. He says that part of the floor needs to be taken up. I will need to figure out what to do about that. 

It is supposed to storm again tonight and tomorrow. Ugh.

SOLAR GENERATOR ARRIVED

 Surprise! My solar generator arrived early. I am glad I was home. It was a nice surprise but I have to say these companies think they are doing you a favor but what if I was away from home? They would have left it on my steps. 

I was lucky the delivery guy carried it into my garage for me. I tried to get it out of the box but it is too heavy. I haven't even tried to get the solar panels out of the box.

The plan is tomorrow I am going to charge it up while the sun is out and it charges from my solar panels. 

I had my book club this afternoon. I tried really hard to finish the book but I missed the mark by a few chapters. I skipped to the end so I knew how it ended. I did enough so I could fake my way through the book club meeting. It is a good book and I am going to finish it.

GARDEN PLANS

 I attended a webinar on vegetable gardening in my area. They talked about container gardening. I learned what to plant, what time of year to plant it and how to plant it. I learned a lot. I have a plan for what I want to plant in my container garden. I also want to plant a few things in pots. 

Here is the plan: in the container I want to plant small amounts of lettuce, green beans and cucumbers. Then in pots I will plant a tomato plant, squash, and carrots. I may also plant red peppers.  I know you are thinking that is too much in a small space. I plan on only planting a few seeds or thinning out. I am super excited about this. Then I have my herb garden: mint, parsley, thyme, rosemary, cilantro and oregano. 

Doesn't this sound so fun? I grew up with a family garden. As a kid I was not so happy about it because we had to weed all the time and pick vegetables and fruit. The number of green beans and blueberries I picked...

CANCELLED INTERNIST APPOINTMENT

 This has been a long week of calling people and having strangers walking through the house. It was not my plan to have this happen. 

I was supposed to have my new internist appointment today. I waited 2.5 months for this appointment. Last night I got a call telling me that the doctor is moving to the East Coast and did I want to still see her tomorrow?? Of course I don't. What is the point? Now I have to find another doctor. 

The electrician came by again. I have a GFI outlet that I can not get a plug into. I thought it was broken but it turns out that they are new plugs that sort of child proof. Would be smart to tell people when they are installed.

INSPECTOR VISIT

 Today was the day that the insurance company inspector came to inspect. She was very thorough and looked at everything. She needs to speak to the roofer before she can tell me if the damage is covered.

I was supposed to move onto my 3rd set of invisilign last week but it didn't work out. I guess when I was sick I didn't wear my invisilign enough and I got set back. I am still on my 2nd set for another week at least.

A DAY OF ACTION

 Today was a day of action. 

I went to the foot doctor and he looked at my painful foot. It turns out I had a painful swollen nerve in between my foot joints. The doctor gave me a VERY Painful shot of cortisone that is supposed to help.

Then I got home and the handyman arrived to help me set up the dehumidifier and pull down the insulation. 

After that the roofer arrived and he installed a tarp to, hopefully, keep any rain out of the house. 

As you can see he used my plants to anchor the tarp. Fingers crossed this holds until the rain stops enough and he can fix it permanently. 

The dehumidifier has been pumping away all day. 

I hear another atmospheric river is coming in about 5 days. UGH!

I am exhausted and am going to bed.

DAY TWO OF INSURANCE PHONE CALLS

 This morning there was water dripping out of the holes I drilled. Not a lot but some. 

To add insult to injury, I lost the internet today for the whole day. 

I spoke to the insurance rep today and the inspector is coming tomorrow. 

I spoke to the restoration rep and she said their company can not come but she gave me a lot of tips. 

The dehumidifier showed up today and it is so large I can't lift it. My handyman is coming tomorrow and he can help me take it downstairs. It is useless unless it stops raining. 

It was really windy today but the rain seems to have stopped for a bit. 

I had my last physical therapy appointment for a few weeks so I will see how that goes.

DAY OF INSURANCE REPORTING

 I spent the day talking to contractors, insurance company reps, restoration folks, handymen, and family. I have everything set up. I bought a dehumdifier that will arrive tomorrow. I have a fan running most of the day drying things out. I have a air purifier running in my bedroom to clear the air. 

The contractor came and told me that I only need a handyman to fix the situation. He was super nice and really honest. I spoke to restoration people who gave me a bunch of tips on what to do until they can get to my house. I started to pull out the insulation and called my handyman and asked him to come and pull the rest out. 

I spoke to the insurance people and they are super nice and gave me all sorts of information. I am in the disaster zone so it will be covered. 

My family gave me all sorts of information like to drill holes in the area where the water has been accumulating so it can drain. 

I am exhausted and can't wait to sleep. I got no work done.

STRESSING OVER MY HOUSE

 I am stressing about my leaking house. How bad is the situation? How expensive will it be to fix? How long will it take to fix? Ugh! 

It rained all day. Horrible rain.  It is never going to stop. 

The Oscars were very interesting to watch. I was happy the Ke Huy Quan won the Oscar. I didn't like the movie but he was good in it.

MY HOUSE IS LEAKING

 I found a horrible leak in my house today. Okay I knew there was a little leak but I had no idea the leak was this big. The leak is coming from my roof deck down through the wall into the atrium and then down into the crawl space. 

I called the roofer and he came over to look at it. We are going to have to wait until the rain stops and then take the deck off and then find the problem in the roof and then put the deck back on. Then I can dry out the downstairs and patch the problems. 

I hope that is the only problems. Ugh!

I tried to watch Tar, Marcel and finally watched Everything Everywhere all at once. I got about 15 minutes into Tar and Marcel. I watched Everything Everywhere all at once with an expectation I would understand it but never did. It was a horrible movie. Maybe someone can explain it to me. Please.
