LUCKY ON NEW MEDICATION

I woke up this morning early because I had to be at the vet with Lucky at 7:30 a.m. it was a checkup appointment that included getting her nails done.

The vet asked how she was doing and I mentioned that her back legs are stiff. It is getting hard for her to walk too far. The vet then mentioned there's a new drug for dogs that have arthritis. I looked over the pamphlet and decided that we would give it a try. It's an injection that she gets once a month.

Then Lucky got her blood work and stuff done and her nails trimmed and we were off and gone back home.

Now we wait and see if it makes any difference.

MY CAR

I started having a slight problem with my car on the way back from Yosemite. At first I thought it was me but then I realized it was a car problem.  The gear shaft is having issues. I took it in to have my "car husband" look at it. It needs a $20 part that he had to order. It should be available on Monday and he will fix the car. 

I didn't want to leave my car for four days so I went and picked it up this afternoon.

ELBOW X-RAY

Today was my appointment with the elbow doctor. He was a bit of a turkey. I got an x-ray and it showed nothing. This is my second x-ray on my elbow. I asked him what to do. He offered an MRI and therapy. He got snarky and said he didn't think surgery was needed. He pointed at this coat where it says Surgeon when I talked at the word surgery. 

I opted for the MRI before any therapy. I have an appointment next week.

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH

I had my neighborhood watch meeting tonight. It went better than I thought. I floated having two committees rather than one. Some folks are more interested in fun/community building and I am more interested in safety. So now I am in charge of safety. My first meeting is disaster preparedness. 

I think it was a good compromise.

CHOCOLATE COVERED CRANBERRY TRUFFLES

Today is no more exciting then yesterday. I worked for 4 hours again. I feel better that I worked on three projects. I do not feel so far behind anymore. 

I took the cranberry sauce and made chocolate truffles. They taste great. Very tart and sweet. 

That was basically my whole day.

A DAY OF WORK

I had to run an errand so I took Lucky with me. She gets so anxious when I am gone even for a few minutes. Luckily she likes being in the car in her little seat. 

After the errand, I took her to a nearby park. I had never been there but it was so nice. I would have walked more but Lucky gets so nervous in new areas, she wanted to go home. Poor old gal. 

Then I sat down and worked for 4 hours. In the middle I did a load of laundry. I have a method. I put on old movies that I have seen multiple times and just crank out the work. I can just tune out the noise. I can't work most times in the silence. I just need silence when I am writing something technical. 

I started to watch the Holiday movies on TV. I live a good holiday movie.

DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING

I am planning a trip months ahead. I spent the last two days booking reservations. Today some of the places called me back. Making reservations really makes the trip seem real, doesn't it??

I got an idea to use up the fresh cranberries in my fridge. I made some chocolate brownies and stirred in the cranberry sauce. They are good but rich. 

I also made some cranberry syrup and cranberry compote. The syrup will be used in another recipe later. I still need to find something to do with the compote.

THANKSGIVING DAY

Happy Thanksgiving. Being vegan this is not my favorite day. Today is centered around the killing of a bird and eating it. I know it is often around family and friends too. 

I am going to try to attend a sunrise service next year that commemorates indigenous people. I think that would be interesting. 

I decided to give Lucky a bath. She has been quite dirty since I was in Hawai'i and it rained. She was not happy about the bath but loves being clean. 

She fell asleep soon after the bath. 

Then I decided to make a bit of food. I made tofu, cauliflower, brussel sprouts and couscous. 

It was a bit beige but delicious.

I received phone calls and video chats with friends and family.

VISTED MY THAI CHI INSTRUCTOR

I woke up early and went to see my Thai chi instructor. He leaves for three months in China in a couple of days and I wanted to wish him safe travels. He was doing Thai chi with another person and I joked that he replaced me so quickly! 

We made plans to start up when returned and I promised to practice.

WORKING A LOT

I am working a LOT. I have to make up for all the time I was in Yosemite, Hawai'i and laid up with broken feet!! This week I am going to get a lot done while everyone is off traveling and spending time shopping. Okay, I may shop online too but mostly work.
