TRIP - DAY 19

I woke up like another day and got ready to go. Today was a drive to go see the Dinosaur National Monument in Vernal CO.
I saw deer just coming out of the campground. Then I saw some moose.

We got all the way past the Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Vail and Beaver Creek ski resorts. Extra points if you know which ski resorts I skied at.

I decided to make a pit stop and have lunch. I pulled of on this rest stop that also has a boat launch close by. I pulled into the boat launch first and quickly went to the rest area. Once in the rest area I made lunch. It was a very nice rest area so I wanted to eat under the trees by the stream. While I was sitting there a man came over and was looking intently at the van. I walked up to him and he said is this your van? There is air leaking from your tire. A nail was in the tire from the boat launch.

I had a flat tire with no spare. The kind of van I have does not carry a spare. I contacted the company to get some assistance. After a while it became apparent they could not do anything.

I asked a guy if he could help and he was very helpful. Then a couple stopped to ask about the van and they offered to help. The guy dealt with the flat tire and the couple went to get fix-a-flat. The fix-a-flat didn't work.

Some kids gave me some flowers for Mother's Day.

Simultaneously I contacted a mobile tire repair guy. The whole process took 7 hours. By then it was 8 pm and dark. My two options were to continue on or boondock in the rest area. I chose to drive on. It was a bit crazy considering the roads were tiny roads where there was a chance for me to hit an animal. I did see a deer in the middle of the road but he ran off.

I got to my campsite at midnight. It was exhausting.

Until tomorrow...

TRIP - DAY 18

Day 2 in Rocky Mountain NP.

Last night, or this morning, I woke up at 1 am to take photos of the Northern Lights.  I got two that came out.
When I woke up and went for a hike in the Rocky Mountains.
I saw a wild turkey when I was eating my lunch on a picnic table.

I had to wait for the second RV tech to arrive to fix my fan, so I decided to play mini golf. It was an okay course that had seen a better day but I had a good time. And no, the tech did not fix the fan. Argh...

I tried to get more photos of the Northern Lights but it was overcast so this is what I got.
Until tomorrow...
