I saw deer just coming out of the campground. Then I saw some moose.
We got all the way past the Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Vail and Beaver Creek ski resorts. Extra points if you know which ski resorts I skied at.
I decided to make a pit stop and have lunch. I pulled of on this rest stop that also has a boat launch close by. I pulled into the boat launch first and quickly went to the rest area. Once in the rest area I made lunch. It was a very nice rest area so I wanted to eat under the trees by the stream. While I was sitting there a man came over and was looking intently at the van. I walked up to him and he said is this your van? There is air leaking from your tire. A nail was in the tire from the boat launch.
I had a flat tire with no spare. The kind of van I have does not carry a spare. I contacted the company to get some assistance. After a while it became apparent they could not do anything.
I asked a guy if he could help and he was very helpful. Then a couple stopped to ask about the van and they offered to help. The guy dealt with the flat tire and the couple went to get fix-a-flat. The fix-a-flat didn't work.
Some kids gave me some flowers for Mother's Day.
Simultaneously I contacted a mobile tire repair guy. The whole process took 7 hours. By then it was 8 pm and dark. My two options were to continue on or boondock in the rest area. I chose to drive on. It was a bit crazy considering the roads were tiny roads where there was a chance for me to hit an animal. I did see a deer in the middle of the road but he ran off.
I got to my campsite at midnight. It was exhausting.
Until tomorrow...
